Handbook of Small Animal Toxicology and Poisonings PDF
By:Roger W. Gfeller,Shawn Messonnier
Published on 2004 by Mosby Incorporated

This time-saving, pocket-size guide offers a thorough understanding of toxicology that is essential to diagnosing and treating the complex problems resulting from toxin ingestion, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in animals. The 2nd edition covers patient assessment and treatment techniques, as well as information on over 100 categories of toxic agents. Discussions of each agent include its uses, mechanism, pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, common products containing the agent, and acute and long-term treatment. A new avian section makes this edition even more comprehensive and clinically useful. Over 1,000 toxic agents are discussed, offering a thorough presentation of toxicology relevant to veterinary practice. An easy-to-use alphabetical organization with section tabs for quick reference makes information easy to locate in any setting. Detailed diagnostic and treatment information is presented in an appealing, visually accessible approach. A greater emphasis on the ingestion of human medications addresses this common concern in detail. Additional plant and chemical toxins are discussed to highlight potential poisonings seen in veterinary practice. A new avian section focuses on specific considerations for treating birds. Redesigned icons draw attention to important points and sections to improve the text's readability. A four-page, full-color insert features approximately 24 color photographs of poisonous plants for quick identification. All content has been reviewed by board-certified toxicologists to ensure that it is up-to-date and accurate. A second color throughout makes the icons more readable, the design more inviting, and critical information more accessible.

Published on 2002 by Boston Medical Pub Incorporated

The primary intent of this book is to serve as a rapid review of Toxicology principles and serve as a study aid to improve performance on Toxicology written and practical examinations. With this goal in mind, the text is written in a rapid-fire, question/answer format. The student receives immediate gratification with a correct answer. Questions themselves often contain a 'pearl' reinforced in association with the question/answer. Additional hooks are often attached to the answer in various forms, including mnemonics, evoked visual imagery, repetition and humour. Emphasis has been placed on evoking both trivia and key facts that are easily overlooked, are quickly forgotten, and yet somehow always seem to appear on Toxicology exams.

Anatomy for Diagnostic Imaging E-Book PDF
By:Stephanie Ryan,Michelle McNicholas,Stephen J Eustace
Published on 2011-12-02 by Elsevier Health Sciences

This book covers the normal anatomy of the human body as seen in the entire gamut of medical imaging. It does so by an initial traditional anatomical description of each organ or system followed by the radiological anatomy of that part of the body using all the relevant imaging modalities. The third edition addresses the anatomy of new imaging techniques including three-dimensional CT, cardiac CT, and CT and MR angiography as well as the anatomy of therapeutic interventional radiological techniques guided by fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT and MR. The text has been completely revised and over 140 new images, including some in colour, have been added. A series of ‘imaging pearls’ have been included with most sections to emphasise clinically and radiologically important points. The book is primarily aimed at those training in radiology and preparing for the FRCR examinations, but will be of use to all radiologists and radiographers both in training and in practice, and to medical students, physicians and surgeons and all who use imaging as a vital part of patient care. The third edition brings the basics of radiological anatomy to a new generation of radiologists in an ever-changing world of imaging.
